Choosing an ATV or powersport trailer
Powersport trailers are sized by deck footprint and by how many machines have to fit side by side. Two ATVs abreast need meaningfully more width than one, and a side-by-side UTV needs more again.
These are light trailers, usually in the 3,000 lb class, and the weight saved matters because they are often towed by SUVs and smaller pickups rather than work trucks.
Ramp and tie-down layout does the real work. Machines with soft suspension move on the deck, so anchor points positioned for the wheels keep a load stable over rough roads.
Questions worth asking first
Will two ATVs fit?
Compare each machine's overall width against the published deck width, and allow clearance for handlebars and mirrors. Two full-size ATVs abreast generally want a deck wider than six feet.
Aluminium or steel?
Aluminium is lighter and does not rust, which suits a trailer towed by a smaller vehicle. Steel costs less and takes abuse better. Both are listed where the manufacturer publishes the material.
Can I tow one with an SUV?
Usually, within the vehicle's published tow rating. These are among the lightest trailers on the lot.
