Choosing a landscape trailer
A landscape trailer is a working platform for crews that load and unload it a dozen times a day. Deck length and gate width decide how fast that happens, which matters more over a season than almost any other spec.
Mesh sides keep clippings and debris contained without adding the weight of solid panels, and they let a crew see the load. A fold-down rear ramp gate is the standard way to walk mowers on and off; the wider the gate, the less careful the operator has to be.
Most landscape trailers are single or tandem axle in the 3,000 to 7,000 lb class. That is enough for mowers, blowers and a crew's hand tools, and not enough for a compact tractor — for that, look at equipment trailers.
Questions worth asking first
Will a zero-turn mower fit?
Measure the mower's width at the deck, not at the tyres, and compare it to the published gate and deck width. Most 60-inch zero-turns want a 6-foot or wider deck.
Single axle or tandem?
A single axle is lighter, cheaper and easier to move by hand. A tandem tracks better at highway speed and keeps going if one tyre fails. Over about 3,500 lb, tandem is the sensible default.
Is a mesh side strong enough to lean a load against?
Mesh contains a load; it is not a retaining wall. Anything that can shift should be strapped to the deck anchors.
